This
time we spotlight Rex Hogan in Cleveland,
GA. Born and raised in Cleveland, In 2002, Rex became
interested in turning and was encouraged and trained
by several notable Southern folk potters.
Rex
has many years of experience in wood carving and carpentry.
This talent shows best in his sculptural forms. Roosters
are his signature piece, but lately Rex has introduced
a selection of eagle and pig designs. Each one is individually
sculpted and uniquely glazed. His
intricately painted rural landscapes and wildlife scenes
are another recent innovation in his work.
By
constantly pushing his forms to create new and interesting
pieces, Rex creates his own version of the traditional
vessels and forms indigenous to the Cleveland area.
Rex is very talented and we look forward to seeing his
new ideas become a reality.
