Annette
Meaders Boswell is the daughter of Mildred
Meaders and the Late John
Meaders, and granddaughter of Cheever
and Arie
Meaders. She grew up watching her grandparents,
uncles and father make pottery. Raised in the Old Meaders
Homeplace house, Annette now resides on the Homeplace property
in the Mossy Creek area of White County. The Meaders began
making pottery in 1892 at this location.
Mike Boswell is the son of Mildred Boswell and the
Late Gene Boswell. Mike was raised in North Carolina until
his family moved to Lumpkin County, Ga. He has worked in the
poultry industry for a number of years. Mike and Annette met
on a blind date in 1993, and as they say the rest is history.
They have a son, Colin. Annette has a daughter, Sarah, and
Mike has a daughter, Amanda.
Mike has
always had a great love for face jugs. Little did he know
when he and Annette met, he would be getting into the middle
of perhaps the most famous face jug making family in the country.
Mike watched Annette's father John make pottery until his
death in 1999. In 2000, Annette started turning pieces in
her father’s shop. Mike decided to try his hand. Now
he makes his own face jugs and other wonderful pieces. Today
they have a shop and kiln at their home across the road from
the first Meaders shop.
